Jimmy Goes to Wimbledon

IMG_0015.jpg Just like the sun, Wimbledon has come and gone and hasn’t it been an exciting one?! Jimmy the Owl ( y’know Jimmy the owl, you met him a while back) was a lucky little fella and got to witness some Wimbledon action live! At Sass & Belle HQ we were extremely jealous but also very pleased as he took lots of pictures and gave us a detailed account of his big day out. Jimmy take it away…

I’m not much of a sports man but there is something about Wimbledon season that gets me. Perhaps it’s the Pimms? And who can forget those strawberries! So delicious and fruity.  Anyways, as I was saying, tennis is a great sport. It’s such a fun one to watch and boy was I pleased to be there in the audience watching the games unfold. It was tense, I’m not going to lie. You can hear the ball bouncing, you can hear the players fighting it out, you can hear the crowds on tenterhooks. When you’re there you’re really there, fully absorbed. Who was I routing for? Well I went to the Ladies’ Doubles – Quarter-Finals and it was Martina Hingis & Sania Mirzaq vs. Casey Dellacqua & Yaroslava Shvedova. I wanted Hingis & Mirzaq to win the game and they did. In fact they went on to win the Ladies’ Doubles. I was a very happy chappy.

My overall favourite player is Andy Murray. Of course I should say that. I don’t know much about technique but I do know that he’s good and that’s all I can really say on the matter. Shame he got knocked out, I thought he was going to win it for us again. Still, he’s a good lad. Roger Federer isn’t bad either. I was supporting him in the final so I was sad to see he didn’t win. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, there’s always next year…

I wouldn’t mind playing a match myself. I’m surprisingly good! I would feel embarrassed not wearing my whitest of whites, of course but I am green and proud. I took a few selfies of me at the game, y’know just chilling. I even found the waiting around fun because it’s such a great atmosphere. The sun was shining so the spirits were high and the smiles aplenty. The best part of the day was posing for all the photographs. I love a good photoshoot, I’ve done a bit of modelling here and there, mostly for Sass & Belle. I enjoyed it but it’s a tough industry to crack, especially in the owl world. Now that I think about it, perhaps I should give tennis a go? I’m looking for a career change and how hard is it really?! There is a local court near me so I can book in a few lessons and away we go.

I’m sad Wimbledon is over, but I’m so pleased I went. I’ll definitely go next year too. Who knows, if I up my game it could be me on that court…
