We are very excited right now, for so many reasons. Firstly because today The Great British Bake Off will be back on our screens. There is no TV programme we love quite like GBBO. Mary Berry and the clan are as comforting as tucking into a slice of Victoria Sponge. It inspires us to bake in a way that no other cookery show has done before it. For that, we are eternally grateful. Another reason we’re rather ecstatic is because we have our very first guest blogger showing us how to bake *the prettiest cake we’ve ever seen*! The lovely Eboni, from EBONI + IVORY, also shows us an extremely easy Pink Lemonade recipe – another thing we’re eternally grateful for (you can see why we’re a little overexcited.) In celebration of the GBBO and all things yummy, we got our bake on and *attempted* to make the prettiest cake you ever did see: a naked cake! The naked cake is not as saucy as it sounds, but it is damn-right delectable. Not for the faint-hearted, this bad boy will have you so proud of your accomplishments post-bake, you’ll practically be filling out your entrance form for 2017’s series. Let’s get to it!

Every May Sass & Belle takes part in National Deaf Children’s Society’s (also known as NDCS) Big Cake Bake to raise money for the lovely charity and to honour National Deaf Awareness Week. Not only is it an excuse to eat cake (who needs one really?), it’s a reason to put a lot of our pretty products to good use and get the office together for a right old knees up. This year we took advantage of the shining sun and hosted a vintage tea party outside.

Oh GBBO, how your weekly presence delights us! This week was all about desserts and it was certainly a jammy one. Ian become star baker for the third week in a row and Sandy wobbled her way out of the tent with her two tier cheesecake disaster. We watched eagled-eyed at Sass & Belle HQ took notes and prepared for our own bakes. Note one, turn oven on (cough…Sandy). This week Victoria our Content Editor showed us how to make Blueberry soured cream cake with cheesecake frosting.
