In celebration of the GBBO and all things yummy, we got our bake on and *attempted* to make the prettiest cake you ever did see: a naked cake! The naked cake is not as saucy as it sounds, but it is damn-right delectable. Not for the faint-hearted, this bad boy will have you so proud of your accomplishments post-bake, you’ll practically be filling out your entrance form for 2017’s series. Let’s get to it!

Unless you've been living under a rock, you may be aware that the EU Referendum will be taking place on Thursday 23rd June. Now we’re not going to pretend that politics is our forte; masters of giftware we may be, but political wizards we are not! We do, however, acknowledge the importance the EU referendum and how voting in or out effects our lives and the future of the country. A few weeks back the affable Chuka Umanna came to our office to encourage us to all vote to stay part of the EU. We never say no to a party, and an opportunity to eat cake, so we went wild making our office fit for a politician. Here is a rundown of what we got up to.

We love pancakes! These sugary, sweet delights are the perfect lazy morning breakfast and nothing says ‘Spring is on its way’ quite like Shrove Tuesday. Yummy pancakes with all the toppings? Yes please! We are acutely aware however, that it was just over a month ago we’d promised to live a healthier life and swore to ourselves that 2016 was going to be all about nurturing our bodies with only goodness (Why do we make such resolutions?) So you can see the dilemma we face when Pancake Day comes around. (Don’t even get us started on what we’re going to do when it comes to Easter). Luckily, we’ve done our research and are delighted to share a healthy and yummy recipe that leaves no guilt. You’re welcome.

At Sass & Belle we like to make people smile and when we envisaged making gingerbread houses we thought we'd make you smile…in a different way. While we're rather good at making pretty giftware it appears we're not quite so good at making gingerbread houses. You can't deny they're charming but they certainly aren’t the Pinterest worthy beauties we hoped they would be. If you would like to follow suite and attempt to make gingerbread houses, then please read on. As they say, it's the taking part that counts, right??

We don’t know about you but at Sass & Belle, we love Christmas decorations! We also adore sweet treats so we thought it was absolutely integral that now the festive season is upon us, we do a little DIY on edible Christmas decorations. Gingerbread is an obvious choice because of its Christmassy connotations, lasting power and, most importantly, deliciousness. Now who can resist that? Just make sure you make enough so you don’t have a half empty tree by Christmas Eve!
