It’s so fun getting crafty at Christmas and at Sass & Belle we love a DIY or two! Homemade things always go down a treat and people appreciate the thought and effort that goes into a creation. This year we thought it would be super fun (and surprisingly easy) to make our Christmas crackers and we were right; it was both simple and more importantly enjoyable. Read on to learn how to achieve this and simple and effective craft idea which will brighten up the table.

During the summer we had some beautiful origami cranes taking pride of place in our Sass & Belle store windows. Made from our delightful wrapping paper (which you can buy here), they proved to be very popular with customers and passers-by! We had people bartering, buying and begging us to show them how to make these beautiful decorations. Here we have a step-by-step video showing how easy they are to make.

We love everything about Autumn and we particularly adore Halloween! The dressing up, the spooks and most importantly, the pumpkins. They’re fun to carve, to paint (see what we got up to last week) and to eat! Pumpkin pie is a seasonal favourite of ours, but this year we decided to try something a little different…

There is something about summertime that makes everyone smile, no one can deny that. But what exactly is it that makes us happier folk? Perhaps it’s simply the sun? Or maybe the longer, warmer evenings? Or it could be being at the beach with the feeling of sand between your toes? It seems everyone has a different answer on what it is that makes these warmer months so magical. Trusting in our loyal customers, we recruited your help to solve our curiosities. Last month we launched a competition and we also asked you ‘what’s your favourite thing about summer?’ Some of the answers completely inspired us so we’ve dedicated a whole blog post to what we (that’s you too) love about summer. At Sass & Belle we admire those thrifty folk who can turn an old, unwanted item into an upcycled treasure. So we tried our hand at it and we’re pretty pleased with the results (even if we do say so ourselves). It’s easy to be crafty and kind to the environment and we’re going to share with you our results and tips. This week we took some old unloved books and turned them into art. Yep…that’s right. Art!
